The Youth Services Bureau falls directly under the supervision of the Detective Lieutenant. The Bureau consists of a Juvenile Detective who oversees the prosecution and adjudication of all juvenile offenders, and the development and promotion of the department's youth programs. There is also a School Resource Officer who in addition to providing police services to the North Kingstown High School, assists with the department's youth programs.
Youth Programs
Officers assigned to youth services are responsible for youth programs such as:
- Juvenile Hearing Board
- Anti-Bullying
- First licenses
- Going for the GOAL
- Lockdowns or evacuation of schools
- Police issues
- RadKIDS
- Sexual harassment
- SHAREIT (a self-protection program for school employees)
- Special classes on school safety
