Highways Division

The Highways Division is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the Town's transportation infrastructure to ensure safe, efficient, and accessible travel for all residents. This division plays a vital role in preserving the quality of life in North Kingstown by overseeing a comprehensive range of services.

Core Responsibilities

  • Road Maintenance & Repairs: Regular inspection, patching, and resurfacing of town roads to address wear and tear and ensure smooth travel.
  • Snow Removal & Ice Control: Implementation of the Snow Fighting Plan to promptly clear snow and ice from roadways during winter storms.
  • Street Sweeping: Routine cleaning of streets to remove debris, improve drainage, and enhance the town's appearance.
  • Drainage Management: Maintenance of catch basins and stormwater systems to prevent flooding and maintain proper water flow.
  • Signage & Traffic Control: Installation and upkeep of traffic signs, signals, and pavement markings to ensure clear communication and safety on the roads.
  • Brush & Tree Management: Trimming and removal of vegetation that may obstruct roadways or pose safety hazards.
  • Bridge & Culvert Inspections: Regular evaluations of town-owned bridges and culverts to assess structural integrity and plan necessary repairs.
