Recycling
The Town of North Kingstown’s Municipal Curbside Collection Program for 1-4 unit households is a single-stream every-other-week automated cart collection using a Town issued 96-gal cart assigned to each address. Each household receives the initial cart for the address at no cost.
Replacement and/or Additional Carts are available for a one-time $75 fee and may be obtained by mailing a check payable to the Town of North Kingstown to Dept. of Public Works, 2050 Davisville Road, North Kingstown, RI 02852. A cart will be delivered to the appropriate address. Or, residents may pick up a cart at the address above – cash or check only.
The carts are the property of the Town and should remain at the assigned address; residents moving from one location in town to another should leave the cart at its assigned address.
RECYCLING BASIC HOW TO’S TO FOLLOW:
The only four things accepted in RI’s mixed recycling program are:
- Paper, cardboard (flattened) and cartons
- Metal cans, lids and foil
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastic containers
That’s it, RI. Please don’t place anything else made of natural fibers, metal, glass, or plastic in your mixed recycling bin or cart. Nothing else qualifies.
And here are the two essential directives, too:
- Containers must be empty at a minimum, but rinsed whenever possible
- No plastic bags (including no recycling set out inside of plastic bags)

Composting Available at Transfer Station
Why not bring your leaves or grass clippings to the North Kingstown Transfer Station compost area to be recycled into grade a compost material? Great for gardens, this high quality compost material is made available for free to town residents. The disposal of leaves and grass clippings is also free for North Kingstown residents.
