MIDDLE SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST
What is the North Kingstown 350th Anniversary Middle School Essay Contest?
The North Kingstown 350th Anniversary Middle School Essay Contest is a youth scholarship contest where middle school students (6 - 8) compete for a $500.00 scholarship by writing an essay on the theme of “What North Kingstown Means to Me.”
Why Should I Enter?
The winning entrant will receive a $500.00 scholarship and recognition by the Town of North Kingstown’s 350th Anniversary Steering Committee. They will be asked to read their essay at the town’s Founder’s Day event. The text of the winning essay will also be published in the local newspapers.
The Rules - Who can enter?
The North Kingstown 350th Anniversary Middle School Essay contest is open to students in grades 6-8 by the September 30, 2024, deadline who are North Kingstown residents enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program.
Where Do I Submit My Entry?
All entries should be submitted to the North Kingstown 350th Anniversary Steering Committee, C/O Town Clerk, 100 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown, RI 02852.
What Is the Deadline for My Entry?
All entries must be received by the Town Clerk at the Municipal Office Building, 100 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown, RI 02852 no later than 4:00 pm, Monday, September 30, 2024.
How do I enter?
Each student entering the contest shall submit an official entry form signed by the student and their parent and/or guardian. A hardcopy printout of each entrant’s 300 to 400 word written essay should be stapled to the official entry form and submitted with it.
What are The Rules?
Only one entry per student. Students entering the contest must be the sole authors of their essay. Inappropriate use of ChatGPT or any other artificial intelligence (AI) tools is not allowed. Entries should be 300 to 400 words in length.

The North Kingstown 350th Anniversary High School Essay Contest is a youth scholarship contest where high school students (9 – 12) compete for a $1,000.00 scholarship by writing and recording an audio essay on the theme of “My Vision for North Kingstown’s Future.”

The winning entrant will receive a $1,000.00 scholarship and recognition by the Town of North Kingstown’s 350th Anniversary Steering Committee. They will be asked to read their essay at the town’s Founder’s Day event. The text of the winning essay will also be published in the local newspapers.
