Post Road Winter Wonderland Decoration Grant and Competition 2025!

We are excited to announce that due to popular demand, the Post Road Winter Wonderland Decoration Competition is back for a second year! This competition will feature four awards, judged by a panel of three judges, and online voting from North Kingstown Residents so they can voice their favorites and be heard with winners announced at this year's innagural Post Road Winter Wonderland Spectacular presented by the Post Road Business Alliance, and hosted at Heritage Plaza on December 18, 2025, from 5-7pm, located at 7726 Post Road. 

The competition categories include:

• Best Modern Decoration
• Best Traditional Decoration
• Best New Participant Decoration
• Most Festive Plaza

Each award will come with a prize, adding extra incentive to showcase your creativity and holiday spirit in addition to the winter merriment it brings to Post Road!

Winter Wonderland Grant Applications Now Open!

The Town of North Kingstown is offering up to $1,000 reimbursement for businesses on Post Road participating for the first time in this year’s Winter Wonderland Holiday Decorations Grant. This program, inspired by the Post Road Façade Improvement Program, aims to celebrate our wonderful Post Road through the holiday season without requiring a match of funds from businesses.

Guidelines:

• Ensure decorations are visible to pedestrians and drivers along Post Road.
• Decorations should not be dangerous or overly distracting.

Important Dates:

• Early voting starts:
  December 5 , 2025
• Final date to decorate to automatically be considered for this year's Post Road Winter Wonderland Decoration Competition: 
  December 12, 2025 
• Competition winners announced at the PRBA's Post Road Winter Wonderland Spectacular:
  5-7 pm December 18, 2025
• Winter Wonderland grant application deadline:
  December 30, 2025

Application Process:

If you plan on participating this year as a plaza or new participating business (those utilizing grant reimbursement for the first time or decorating for the first time), please reach out to Ben Mandel via email or phone, provided below at your earliest convenience to indicate your participation. This greatly aids in ensuring that the drop-down menu categories for Best New Participant and Most Festive Plaza are populated accurately for voting purposes.

Early voting begins on December 5, 2025. While the final date to decorate and be considered for this year’s competition is December 12, participants who wish to take advantage of early voting are strongly encouraged to complete their decorations prior to December 5. This schedule was created to give everyone ample time to decorate while also allowing the community plenty of opportunity to vote and enjoy the displays.

Submit your applications, including cost estimates for your decorations, to Ben Mandel in the Planning Department for review and approval. Eligible expenses include, but are not limited to, holiday lighting, ornaments, window paint, window clings, garlands, trees, greenery, and art installations.

Let’s make this holiday season the most festive yet—both in North Kingstown and along Post Road! Competition winners will be announced at this year's Post Road Winter Wonderland Spectacular 5-7 pm on December 18, 2025, at Heritage Plaza, located at 7726 Post Road, courtesy of the Post Road Business Alliance. So get your decorations up to be considered for this year’s competition and help usher in the holiday spirit with an extra bang!
