HOMESTEAD APPLICATION

This is a NEW Exemption. It is in addition to any exemptions you are already receiving, including the Flat Senior. You must be owner of record as of 12/31 prior year to be eligible for this year's tax roll. This exemption applies to your primary residence. You must provide 3 of the 5 required documents to prove residency:    It is a one-time application and remains on the property until it is sold or you move to another North Kingstown residence.

  • RI driver's license
  • RI Motor Vehicle registration
  • North Kingstown Voter Registration card
  • Current utility bill. This cannot be sewer or water and must show the address in 2 locations; mailing address and service address. It is the entire first page.
  • Current tax return to be filed in the year the exemption is to apply. First page only. Example; Your 2022 tax return filed. April 2023 is needed to apply for the 2023 tax roll.

Documents provided with the application must be in the name of the applicant. If you apply in person, the Assessor's office will witness your signature. If you mail the form and required documents, the application must be notarized.

The amount of the Homestead exemption has been approved for UP TO 20% off of the assessed value. This amount is decided on a yearly basis by the Town Council. For the 2022 tax roll, it has been approved for 5% off of your assessed value of your property.
